For those of you who started playing the Wangan games from Wangan Maxi 3DX, nice to have you with us.
For those of you who who've been playing since Wangan Maxi 3, thanks for sticking with our games.
For those of you who who've been playing since Wangan Maxi 2, thanks a lot for your support.
For those of you who who've been playing since Wangan Maxi 1, thanks so much for playing our games for all this time.
My name is Uchida, and I'm the director of the Wangan Maxi 3DX project.
Yup, 3DX is the one.
This new game is the fourth in the Wangan Maxi Series - sometimes I wonder just how we created so many games...
Even though we're making sequels based on the previous games, it seems to get more and more difficult in an endless spiral...
But now that the game has been released, all the effort has become a happy memory.
Hundreds of new features have been added to Wangan Maxi 3 to make Wangan Maxi 3DX (de-luxe), and it truly is a deluxe racing game.
Maximum horsepower has finally gone up to 825, and there are new stories in Story Mode, like the previously unseen Ishida and Yuji compilations, as well as a totally new compilation about Ogishima, the FD Master. All those living in the Tokai region of Japan should be happy to see a course from their area - the Nagoya Speed Ring. There are four new car types too, all sports cars now on the market.
And there might just be the hidden car that *Maeda* wanted slipped into the game somewhere...
(when could he have slipped that in....?)
There's a lot written about the additional features in 3DX in some of the other future lab pages, so I'll just tell you a bit about a particular surprisingly useful new feature.
In 3DX, there is a new option where you can have a "Random" choice of course in VS Player.
We put this option in after seeing how people played 3DX at the location test, as well as how people play Wangan Maxi 3.
If you select "Random", the game machine will make your course choice for you.
After all the other players have entered their choice of course, the course with the most votes will be the course you race on.
Knowing what courses the other players choose usually results in some subtle jockeying at the point where you choose courses, right?
Although some people like to get to know a course really well and find out the optimum HP settings and driving style for that course,
some people just want to take on other players on any course.
If you are on of those people, you can avoid the tiresome course selection procedures and play VS Player simply by choosing "Random".
If all the players choose the "Random" option, the course will be chosen by the game machine, so you might be able to say "I won ten games in VS Player with the course selection option on random!"
It may not be the most significant part of the game, but it is important in the sense that every little improvement makes for a better game overall...
I hope you enjoy playing 3DX with all these new features for a long time to come!
