Good evening everybody, it's Takenaka, Wangan programmer.
Wangan Maxi 3DX is now available in the shops.
"DX" stands for "deluxe", and there are naturally lots of new features and improvements...
These four are the biggest improvements, but as some of the Wangan team have talked about them elsewhere, I'll just ask you to check them out in the articles they wrote...(laughs) I'd like to tell you a bit about the part of 3DX that I was involved with - the new course, Nagoya Speed Ring.
Making the background features like the road surface and the buildings is the task of the visual designers, but the job of making the course layout is mine.
While working on the course layout for this new game, I tried to focus on giving the course an original personality, and I tried to come up with something that would feel a little different to race on than the Tokyo expressways, Osaka and Hakone.
The defining characteristic of the Nagoya Speed Ring is high speed over uneven terrain.
As the shape is essentially oval, the course is quite easy to drive around. But as you try and cut down your time, you'll find that I've put in a lot of features that will take time to master.
There are banks, hills, dips and bumps scattered around the course, and you'll need to be innovative to find the best lines round the corners.
Even the "straight" sections aren't just straight lines - there are crank-shaped parts and other features that could just prove to be turning points in a race.
I tried to make the Nagoya Speed Ring easy to drive on but challenging at the same time. It also has a lot of new features, so make sure to give it a try!
See you later!
