No. 282009.6.17
Hi folks, it's Nagamatsu, the mysterious man in the judo suit. Hai-yaa!!
In this issue, I was thinking to write about a certain event in Future Lab News...
But then, I thought I might’ve written about that in my previous issue. So I reviewed it here and there in Future Lab News in the past...
Future Lab News from Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3
No. 34 Intra-team battles?! The story of carts, 2
Yup, there was. The irritating memory...
Project members of Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune series hold a "Cart Tournament" whenever a new member comes aboard.
As I wrote before, in the Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune members, the fastest guy is the most highly revered!!
The cart battles are held every time to determine the hierarchy within the team.
Let me explain a little bit about carts.
I said carts, but not “go-carts” that you find in an amusement park. I mean serious carts with a top speed of 60km/h. Since the vehicle height is sooo low, the speed you actually feel is 100km/h or faster.
But since you can drive the carts safely without any license required, I recommend them!!
So, I again participated in the "Cart Tournament" which has already been becoming an "established custom"!! But there was something different from usual.
Yup...we had rain in the tournament!! I mean real heavy rain!!
Driving carts in heavy and wet conditions!!
In these conditions,
I was wet even
with my raincoat on.
I couldn't turn, really couldn't turn!!
Even if I turned the steering wheel, the cart went straight.
In this kinda situation, there was no other way but stepping on the accelerator and sliding the rear tires to turn the cart.
It was almost like a spin state. I was so nervous that I was about to hit the walls at the corners with a natural speedup. Scary!!
Anyway, the "Cart Tournament" went like this,...Nagamatsu had a secret goal. The goal was to reverse the situation where my name had been ruined for a whole year because I was heavily defeated in the previous Cart Tournament.
This year, I've been secretly practicing again and again!! I'm confident that I won't be beaten by anyone in the races!! Probably...definitely...
Let's Fight!!
(The graphics content is
of course just an image.)
But, from the beginning of the race, I went into a full spin at the first hairpin curve!!
So right from the start, I found myself in last place from the start. (sob)
NNNNOOOOOOO!! NOT AGAIN!!
I can't end like this! I've got to change this status!!
So from there, I was moving up little by little to target the members in the right-atmosphere group!!
Fight with me!! While the tires were slipping in the wet conditions, I was trying to force a tight battle.
Darn it!! I can't reduce that small distance!! But if I spin here, I'll lose everything. And plus, opponents are the right-atmosphere group members!!
Considering the name as the right-atmosphere group, all the members are fast.
Not only is the atmosphere right, their actual skill is right.
I was right behind them to seek some chance to counter...
or in the moment of getting into the corner, I put my cart in from the inside track…I repeated those actions, and I finally caught up with Mr. ★maeda★ in the last three laps of the race!!
Hard-pressing offense and defense!!
I got lined up with him at the hairpin corner, and both carts were speeding with full acceleration!! Luckily, because I was able to get in from the inside track, I was ahead a little bit!! I sustained my lead and crossed the FFFiiinish LLLiiine!!
YES!! I won my re-match!!
Wow, I managed to bring down
my opponent!!
For me emotion-wise,
I felt like this!!
Uh? Why is there only one picture?
That's because Nagamatsu didn’t have the balls to take pictures with his digital camera in the heavy rain. My clothes were sooo wet, and it looked like just keeping the camera in the pocket would break the camera...sorry.
In the end, races are good fun as always...
A fevered dead heat is fun.
Particularly this time, the race was so tight. All in all, if there isn't any offense and defense with racers being alternately ahead and behind, the race won't be fun at all.
Last time, I couldn't even shorten the distance ahead of my cart...
This race made me reconfirm the importance of a dead heat.
If you have any chance, you must try out a cart at least once.
OK folks, that's all for this week!! See you! Hai-yaa!!
